GULFSTREAM ADVANCES G400 FLIGHT TEST PROGRAMME WITH FIRST FLIGHT OF OUTFITTED AIRCRAFT AND NEW SPEED RECORD

The milestones, achieved en route to NBAA-BACE 2026, mark continued progress toward certification for Gulfstream’s newest jet.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced on 19 October 2026, in Savannah, Georgia, two milestones for the Gulfstream G400: the first flight of the programme’s fully outfitted test aircraft, and a new city-pair speed record set using a blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) en route to the 2026 NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas. Together, the company said, the achievements demonstrate the G400 programme’s growing maturity and continued progress toward certification.

The fully outfitted G400 completed its first flight from Dallas Love Field Airport, flying for 2 hours and 46 minutes and reaching an altitude of 48,000 feet. The aircraft features an 11-passenger configuration over two-and-a-half living areas and is dedicated to evaluating cabin systems at altitude and testing functionality and comfort in flight.

Heading into Las Vegas for NBAA-BACE, one of three experimental G400 test aircraft set a new city-pair speed record flying from Miami, completing the flight in 4 hours and 8 minutes at an average speed of Mach 0.89. Flown using a blend of SAF, the mission further demonstrated the aircraft’s combination of speed, range and efficiency.

“The first flight of our outfitted G400 and this latest speed record reflect the discipline, experience and momentum behind the program,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “With the largest cabin in its class, the G400 provides customers an environment never before seen in this category, and we are excited to continue to refine the interior fit and finish as we prepare this exceptional aircraft for entry into service.”

The G400 programme has also completed a broad range of missions including high-altitude testing in Telluride, Colorado, and cold-weather testing in Iqaluit, Canada, among other validation efforts.

“The aircraft continues to perform exceptionally well as we advance through the rigorous certification program,” said Burns. “Each milestone reinforces the performance, cabin comfort and versatility customers will experience with this remarkable aircraft.”

The G400 experimental test aircraft and a cabin mock-up are on display at NBAA-BACE alongside the ultralong-range Gulfstream G700 and G800, the award-winning Gulfstream G500 and G600, and the all-new Gulfstream G300 mock-up.

GULFSTREAM EARNS NBAA SUSTAINABLE FLIGHT DEPARTMENT REACCREDITATION

Gulfstream announced it has earned reaccreditation through the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation Program, becoming the first original equipment manufacturer to earn reaccreditation across all four programme categories. The company said the reaccreditation reflects measurable progress across its flight, ground support, infrastructure and operational activities since a 2019 baseline, including a 44% reduction in fuel consumption and flight emissions, a 21% improvement in emissions per flight hour, an 18% reduction in ground support emissions, a 25% reduction in emissions intensity per square foot, more than 2.3 million square feet of LEED- and BREEAM-certified facilities, a 43% reduction in employee air travel emissions and a 55% improvement in emissions per employee. The programme is now managed by 4AIR under a strategic partnership with NBAA announced in March.

“At Gulfstream, sustainability is not a standalone initiative; it is integrated into how we operate, innovate and lead,” said Burns. “This reaccreditation reflects the dedication of teams across our company who are driving meaningful progress, embracing continuous improvement and helping position Gulfstream and business aviation for a more sustainable future.”

PERFORMANCE ANALYTICS CAPABILITIES EXPANDED

Gulfstream also announced advancements to its Customer Support Performance Analytics programme, which combines aircraft health monitoring data, operational data and maintenance history to help customers optimise service planning, avoid unnecessary scheduling disruptions and increase aircraft availability. The programme has already helped Gulfstream teams proactively address nearly 100 potential operational events before they occurred this year, and the company expects to more than double its current analytics capabilities in the first half of 2027.

“Gulfstream’s Performance Analytics program reflects our continued investment in solutions that help customers maximise the value of their aircraft and enhance their ownership experience,” said Lor Izzard, senior vice president, Gulfstream Customer Support. “By leveraging the advanced technologies integrated into our aircraft, we can identify developing trends early and provide customers with insights that reduce downtime and operating costs while making more informed maintenance and operational decisions.”

$3 BILLION MILESTONE IN SPARE PARTS INVESTMENT

Gulfstream stated that its dedicated spare parts inventory now represents an investment of more than $3 billion, part of continued expansion of its distribution, repair and overhaul network. Its Atlanta distribution centre, now its largest outside Savannah, has more than doubled in size and holds about $190 million in spare parts inventory after a 65% increase in value this year; its Mesa, Arizona service centre has grown its inventory by 25% to more than $48 million over the past year. Its Texas Repair and Overhaul Center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, just over a year after opening, has expanded in-house capability for wheels and brakes, structures, paint, non-destructive testing, hydraulics and Gulfstream G650 landing gear assemblies, and is broadening its scope to G500 and G600 hydraulic and landing gear components, with its on-site team growing by more than 50% over the past year. Gulfstream also maintains forward-stocking locations in Singapore and Amsterdam.

“As our fleet continues to grow around the world, we are making strategic investments in inventory, infrastructure and expertise that further strengthen our ability to support customers wherever they operate,” said Burns. “By increasing parts availability, we’re providing customers with greater confidence that the resources they need are available when and where they need them.”
