Joby Aviation, a pioneer in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has selected IFS Cloud for Aviation Maintenance to bolster its global expansion plans. The partnership aims to streamline maintenance processes and ensure the safety and efficiency of Joby’s innovative aircraft fleet.
Joby Aviation has been leading the development of eVTOL aircraft, with recent milestones including production commencement in June 2023 and successful piloted test flights, including a showcase flight in New York City. With a range of 100 miles and capacity for a pilot and four passengers, Joby’s electric aircraft promises unparalleled flexibility for global passenger services, slated to begin commercial operations in 2025.
As part of its growth strategy, Joby plans to construct a manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio, capable of producing up to 500 eVTOL aircraft annually, creating up to 2,000 high-quality manufacturing jobs. Additionally, expansion plans for its Marina, CA facility, where aircraft production commenced last year, are underway.
The IFS Cloud for Aviation Maintenance solution will equip Joby Aviation with comprehensive maintenance software, covering engineering, records management, operations, and planning. Matthew Lykins, Aircraft Maintenance Lead at Joby Aviation, emphasised the importance of innovative software solutions to ensure seamless operation and maintenance throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
Scott Helmer, President, Aerospace and Defence at IFS, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting IFS Cloud’s industry-specificity and flexibility in supporting organisations at the forefront of aviation innovation.
Joby Aviation’s decision to partner with IFS adds them to the prestigious list of world-leading aircraft manufacturers, operators, and maintainers already utilising IFS solutions.
