Joby Aviation acquires a second Ohio manufacturing facility, adding 700,000 square feet of capacity to support plans to double aircraft production by 2027.
Joby Aviation has signed an agreement to acquire a second manufacturing facility in the Dayton, Ohio area, adding more than 700,000 square feet of production space to its growing industrial footprint. The facility is ready for immediate use and will initially support Joby’s plan to double aircraft production to four aircraft per month in 2027, while providing capacity for significant future growth.
Â
The new site complements Joby’s existing manufacturing operations in California and Ohio, reinforcing the company’s dual-site production strategy and leveraging Ohio’s established aerospace workforce. Operations at the Dayton-area facility are expected to begin later this year.
Â
JoeBen Bevirt, founder and chief executive officer of Joby Aviation, said the facility will support near-term production growth while enabling longer-term manufacturing scale as the company transitions from development into higher-rate production.
Joby has continued to expand its manufacturing capabilities over the past year. In July 2025, the company completed an expanded production facility in Marina, California, and in October confirmed the start of propeller blade production in Ohio. To support its planned production increase, Joby began procuring capital equipment to double manufacturing capacity late last year, while hiring is underway in California to support round-the-clock operations.
Â
State and federal leaders welcomed Joby’s continued investment in Ohio, highlighting the region’s aviation heritage and advanced manufacturing capabilities. Officials said the expansion is expected to create new jobs and further position the Dayton region as a hub for next-generation aerospace production.
Â
Joby’s manufacturing growth coincides with increased policy momentum for advanced air mobility in the United States. The US Department of Transportation has announced a national strategy for advanced air mobility, while the Federal Aviation Administration and DOT prepare to deploy the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program in 2026. The programme is intended to validate operational use cases and flight routes ahead of final type certification, supporting broader industry and community readiness for advanced air mobility.
