KENYA AIRWAYS AND AIR TANZANIA SIGN MOU TO STRENGTHEN REGIONAL COOPERATION

DAR ES SALAAM, 28 July 2025 – Kenya Airways and Air Tanzania have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to enhance regional collaboration and improve connectivity across East and Southern Africa. The agreement reflects the airlines’ shared commitment to fostering cooperation over competition, aiming to drive sustainable growth and efficiency in the African aviation sector.

Under the MoU, the carriers will leverage their resources and internal capabilities to advance joint initiatives in several key areas, including human resource training, engineering, aircraft maintenance, cargo operations, maintenance and repair operations (MRO), safety, and innovation. The collaboration will allow both airlines to exchange expertise and best practices, ultimately providing passengers and cargo customers with more flexible and efficient travel solutions.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to building regional capacity to support economic growth, trade, and tourism across East Africa,” said Allan Kilavuka, Group Managing Director and CEO of Kenya Airways. “By collaborating closely with Air Tanzania, we can jointly offer our passengers and cargo clients more flexible and efficient travel solutions.”

Air Tanzania CEO Peter Ulanga echoed this sentiment, calling the MoU a “significant milestone” for the airline. “Together with Kenya Airways, we are creating a stronger, more connected aviation landscape that will benefit our economies and our people,” he said.

The signing ceremony was held at the Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam, where the two airline leaders formalised the agreement. The partnership is expected to pave the way for a more integrated and competitive African aviation market, unlocking new routes, supporting trade and tourism, and delivering long-term benefits to regional communities.
