NORWEGIAN MINISTRY OF DEFENCE SELECTS SKYDIO X10D AUTONOMOUS DRONES IN $9.4 MILLION DEAL

SAN MATEO, California – July 15, 2025 – Skydio, a global leader in autonomous flight technology and the leading Western drone manufacturer, has secured a 101 million Norwegian Kroner (approximately $9.4 million USD) initial tender from the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Defence. The deal marks a significant milestone as Norway becomes the latest NATO member to adopt the company’s advanced small uncrewed aerial systems (sUAS).

Working in partnership with Norwegian defence supplier Oskar Pedersen AS, Skydio has begun delivering its X10D autonomous drone systems to the Norwegian Armed Forces. This procurement strengthens Norway’s capabilities in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations — particularly in the demanding conditions of the Arctic and High North.

“Norway has been at the forefront of adopting advanced technology for defense, and we’re proud to support their armed forces with our X10D platform,” said Adam Bry, CEO and co-founder at Skydio. “X10D is the small UAS of choice for western militaries, with onboard AI, autonomy, powerful sensors and survivability in contested environments.”

Purpose-built for military use, the Skydio X10D offers cutting-edge performance across a range of challenging conditions:

  • Cold-weather operation down to -20°C, enabling year-round deployment in Norway’s extreme environments
  • Advanced autonomous navigation, featuring Skydio NightSense™ for dependable performance during the extended darkness of Nordic winters
  • Resilience against electronic warfare, ensuring stable control and data integrity in contested zones
  • Unparalleled onboard sensors and a modular, open architecture to support rapid mission adaptation

“We are proud to deliver the X10D to the Norwegian Armed Forces in close collaboration with Skydio,” said Truls Oskar Pedersen, CEO of Oskar Pedersen AS. “The X10D platform provides a new capability and will prove to be a valuable operative asset to the armed forces.”

Skydio now supplies autonomous sUAS platforms to 15 NATO member countries, cementing its role as a trusted provider for Western defence operations. The integration of the X10D into the Norwegian military arsenal underscores its value as a next-generation solution for enhanced situational awareness and operational effectiveness.
