In a significant milestone for Poland’s defence capabilities, the Ministry of Defence has officially approved the completion of five offset projects as part of the WISLA programme’s first phase. Collaborating closely with Lockheed Martin, local industrial partners have contributed to enhancing technical capabilities and fostering manufacturing expertise related to the Patriot Advanced Capability – 3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) system, reinforcing Poland’s air and missile defence.
Leading the charge, Wojskowe Zaklady Elektroniczne (WZE) and Wojakowe Zaklady Lotnicze Nr. 2 (WZL-2) have each wrapped up crucial offset projects vital to the WISLA programme. These initiatives have empowered Polish companies to actively participate in the PAC-3 supply chain, thereby creating highly skilled job opportunities and bolstering Poland’s defence industry.

Robert Orzylowski, Director of Poland and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) for Lockheed Martin, underscored the commitment to fortifying Poland’s national security. “Our partnership with the Polish industrial base not only provides valuable employment but also equips the defence industry with essential skills, opening doors to global commercial prospects,” he stated.

WZE’s Triumph in PAC-3 MSE Projects
WZE clinched official approval for three pivotal projects, including the production of the Enhanced Electronics System (ELES), the Junction Box (J-Box), and the Motor Controller Unit (MCU) design. By establishing production lines for ELES and J-Box programs, WZE has positioned itself to compete for production orders for PAC-3 MSE launchers. The MCU project focused on designing an electrical power switch unit, marking WZE’s successful completion of four out of seven offset projects under WISLA Phase 1.

WZL-2’s Milestones with F-16 Support
Meanwhile, WZL-2 secured approval for two essential projects supporting the F-16 aircraft. These projects facilitated technology transfer, equipment provision, and technical assistance to enable WZL-2 to undertake maintenance tasks for F-16 Generators and hydraulic components. With the completion of all three projects under WISLA Phase 1, WZL-2 solidifies its role in bolstering Poland’s defence capabilities.

Alissa Maxvill, Poland Industrial Development lead for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, expressed optimism about future industrial opportunities. “The success of the PAC-3 WISLA offsets program lays the groundwork for additional successful partnerships in Poland,” she affirmed.

Since establishing an office in central Warsaw in 1996, Lockheed Martin has collaborated closely with the Polish Ministry of Defence on various defence and security programmes. The company’s PAC-3 MSE missile plays a pivotal role in Poland’s missile defence strategy, while its precision munitions and training systems provide crucial capabilities to the Polish Armed Forces.
