ENGINE SELECTION

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Rolls-Royce has been selected by LATAM Airlines to supply Trent 1000 XE engines to power three Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The agreement marks a continuation of the long-standing relationship between the two companies and reflects renewed confidence in Rolls-Royce’s widebody engine platform.

DURABILITY AND PERFORMANCE

The Trent 1000 XE incorporates upgrades aimed at improving operational reliability, including a redesigned high-pressure turbine blade that increases cooling airflow and extends time-on-wing performance.

These enhancements are intended to reduce maintenance frequency and improve fleet availability, particularly in demanding operating environments.

The engine benefits from a broader durability enhancement programme, alongside operational data derived from related Trent engine variants.

MRO INVESTMENT AND FLEET SUPPORT

Rolls-Royce has also expanded its global maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) network, increasing shop capacity and reducing turnaround times. New support facilities have been established in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Germany.

This is complemented by an expanded spare engine pool, designed to minimise aircraft-on-ground (AOG) risk and support operational continuity for airline customers.

LONG-HAUL NETWORK DEVELOPMENT

For LATAM Airlines, the engine selection supports efforts to improve operational efficiency and maintain flexibility in developing its long-haul network.

The agreement aligns with broader industry trends focusing on propulsion reliability, lifecycle cost control, and sustained fleet performance.
