SKUNK WORKS AND FALCONWORKS JOIN FORCES ON AUTONOMOUS AIR SYSTEMS

LONDON, September 2025 – Lockheed Martin Skunk Works® (NYSE: LMT) and BAE Systems FalconWorks (LSE: BAES) have announced a strategic collaboration at the DSEI global defence conference in the United Kingdom to develop a new generation of uncrewed autonomous air systems.

The partnership will combine the advanced research and development divisions of both companies to create a rapidly deployable, modular system capable of delivering a range of effects, including disruptive electronic warfare and attack capabilities. The concept is designed to complement and enhance the survivability of existing crewed combat aircraft.

Leveraging expertise in rapid design, prototyping and advanced manufacturing, the collaboration will focus on producing a cost-effective system with multiple launch options. Initial designs will incorporate modularity and adaptability for a variety of missions and deployment methods, including air drop, ground launch, maritime launch, and deployment from wide-body logistic aircraft.

The announcement comes as defence forces worldwide explore mixed fleet solutions that combine crewed and uncrewed assets to meet evolving operational requirements. A key priority is the ability to rapidly field affordable “combat mass” to support frontline forces in a contested battlespace.

“We’re pleased to join forces with BAE Systems, combining our expertise in rapid prototyping and advanced development to deliver game-changing capabilities,” said OJ Sanchez, vice president and general manager, Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. “By working together, we’re unlocking new possibilities for our customers and advancing the future of autonomous systems.”

Dave Holmes, managing director of FalconWorks, added:
“Through our collaboration with Lockheed Martin we’ll deliver disruptive capabilities that can make a real difference to our military customers at pace, enabling them to confront the operational requirements of today’s battlefield.”

The initiative highlights the growing momentum behind collaborative defence innovation, where modular uncrewed platforms are emerging as essential enablers of future air combat operations.
