TEXTRON AVIATION DEFENSE SECURES $150 MILLION T-6 TEXAN II SUPPORT CONTRACT

Textron Aviation Defense has been awarded a five-year U.S. government contract valued at more than $150 million to provide sustaining engineering and programme management support for the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II training fleet.

CONTRACT EXTENDS LONG-TERM SUPPORT PROGRAMME

The contract, awarded by the U.S. government, extends ongoing Sustaining Engineering and Program Management (SEPM) services first initiated in 2021.

The agreement covers the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Army fleets of Beechcraft T-6 Texan II variants, including the T-6A, T-6B and T-6D.

The latest award increases the total contract ceiling from $240 million to $510 million, reflecting continued programme expansion and long-term fleet support requirements.

FOCUS ON FLEET READINESS AND SUPPORT

Under the contract, Textron Aviation Defense will deliver systems engineering, programme management, and support for maintenance, repairs, and aircraft modifications.

The work will be carried out in Wichita, Kansas, supporting the operational readiness and lifecycle management of the T-6 fleet.

The programme forms a key component of the U.S. military’s pilot training pipeline, ensuring aircraft availability for training operations.

T-6 TEXAN II ROLE IN PILOT TRAINING

The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II remains a central platform in military flight training, used to prepare pilots for advanced aircraft operations.

With a global fleet exceeding 1,000 aircraft and more than five million flight hours logged, the platform is widely deployed across multiple countries and training programmes.

Its role within integrated training systems supports the early stages of pilot development for military aviation.

PROGRAMME CONTINUITY AND INDUSTRY CONTEXT

The contract extension reflects continued reliance on established training platforms and long-term sustainment strategies within military aviation.

Sustaining engineering programmes such as SEPM are increasingly important in maintaining fleet availability, managing lifecycle costs, and ensuring training continuity across armed forces.

COMPANY AND GROUP CONTEXT

Textron Aviation Defense is a subsidiary of Textron Inc., which operates across aviation, defence, and industrial sectors.

The group’s aviation portfolio includes brands such as Beechcraft and Cessna, supporting both civil and military markets globally.
