HUNGARY ENTERS NEW ERA OF AERIAL RECONNAISSANCE WITH DELIVERY OF DIAMOND DA62 MPP

Wiener Neustadt, Austria – 19 May 2025 – Diamond Aircraft Industries has announced the successful delivery of its flagship DA62 MPP (Multi-Purpose Platform) to HM Zrínyi Nonprofit Kft., marking a strategic leap forward in Hungary’s defence and geospatial intelligence capabilities.

The official handover took place at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport, witnessed by key officials from the Hungarian Ministry of Defence, including Dr. János Czermann, Deputy State Secretary for Human Resources, and Lieutenant General Ferenc Kajári, Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff.

Equipped with advanced sensing technologies from Vexcel and Riegl, the DA62 MPP brings unmatched aerial imaging and data-gathering potential to Hungary’s defence forces. The aircraft features high-resolution digital cameras and airborne laser scanners that enable the production of orthophotos, 3D urban maps, and detailed digital terrain models.

“With the DA62 MPP, we are entering a new era of aerial reconnaissance,” remarked Dr. Czermann. “This aircraft will become a vital component of our simulation and command systems, bolstering national security with precision and efficiency.”

Gábor Kulcsár, CEO of HM Zrínyi Nonprofit Kft., underscored the aircraft’s historical significance: “For the first time since 1977, Hungarian military cartography gains a new aerial platform. The DA62 MPP revolutionises how we produce terrain and surface models, enabling our teams to work smarter and faster.”

The DA62 MPP is recognised as the most cost-effective and versatile platform in its class. Built on Diamond Aircraft’s proven twin-engine, all-carbon-fibre DA62 design, it combines endurance, low direct operating costs, and exceptional operational flexibility. The aircraft is powered by two turbocharged jet-fuel engines, with the airframe engineered for unlimited life and corrosion resistance—even in saline or humid conditions.

Robert Kremnitzer, COO and Head of Design Organisation at Diamond Aircraft Austria, said, “We are proud to support Hungary’s defence modernisation with the DA62 MPP. This platform is ideally suited for missions ranging from ISR to border patrol, law enforcement, and geospatial mapping.”

The ceremony concluded with a traditional blessing of the aircraft and its crew by military chaplains Brigadier Generals László Mészáros and Tibor Berta—an acknowledgment of the human commitment behind this technological milestone.

As Hungary deepens its investment in cutting-edge defence platforms, the DA62 MPP stands as a symbol of innovation, partnership, and preparedness for the challenges of modern aerial reconnaissance.
