Mumbai, May 2025 — In a significant boost to India’s drone sector, ideaForge Technology Limited, a leading player in the global UAV industry, has received certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to conduct its Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) Training (Small Class) program. This marks a vital step in upskilling India’s drone workforce and fostering safe, efficient UAV operations across the nation.
The newly certified five-day program is aligned with DGCA regulations and aims to build a robust cadre of professional drone pilots capable of meeting the evolving demands of sectors such as defence, agriculture, mining, urban planning, and disaster management. The certification also supports India’s ambition of becoming a global drone hub by 2030 and aligns with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Mr. Amol Suryawanshi, Senior Director – Operations at ideaForge, said:
“The certification marks a step forward in our mission to build best-in-class drone pilots who are able to efficiently utilize drone technology. This initiative sets a benchmark for UAV training standards and will evolve with the introduction of newer technologies like BVLOS and autonomous piloting.”
The ideaForge RPC Training is structured into two days of ground-based theory followed by three days of practical flying, assembly, simulator training, and maintenance instruction. The curriculum includes key modules such as:
- Basic principles of flight and aerodynamics (rotorcraft, fixed-wing, and hybrid)
- Weather, meteorology, and risk assessment
- ATC procedures and Radio Telephony (non-FRTOL)
- Maintenance and operational safety
- Introduction to drone data and analytics
All sessions are delivered by certified instructors with deep operational knowledge and experience in UAV deployment.
Open to Indian citizens aged 18 to 65 from any professional background, the program only requires Class 10 completion, a valid government-issued ID, and a basic level of medical fitness. ideaForge expects to train between 200 to 250 pilots annually, directly contributing to job creation and strengthening the domestic UAV ecosystem.
As the demand for drone applications expands, the company plans to roll out advanced training modules tailored to specialised use cases, reinforcing India’s commitment to building a future-ready drone industry.
