OMANI AND JEANIE CARSON NAMED INAUGURAL DEPARTURE DAY DOVE 1 FOR 2026 SPECIAL OLYMPICS AIRLIFT

Omani and Jeanie Carson have been named the inaugural departure day Dove 1 for the 2026 Special Olympics Airlift, donating their aircraft and crew to lead athletes home from the Twin Cities Games.

Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. company, has announced that Omani and Jeanie Carson of Omaha, Nebraska, have been named the inaugural departure day Dove 1 for the 2026 Special Olympics Airlift.

In this role, the Carsons will donate their aircraft and crew to lead athletes home at the conclusion of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. This marks the first year that the honorary departure day distinction has been established.

As departure day Dove 1, the Carsons will guide the first aircraft departing from Minneapolis’ Twin Cities on Saturday, 27 June, reuniting athletes with their families and communities following a week of competition.

New distinction within the Airlift programme

The departure day Dove 1 role is newly created and distinct from the previously announced arrival day Dove 1 designation. It recognises leadership in supporting athlete travel during the return home from the Games.

Omani Carson, founder and chairman of Carson Group, said the couple were honoured to assist in bringing athletes home and described the opportunity as a privilege.

Ron Draper, president and CEO of Textron Aviation, said the Carsons’ commitment would help ensure that each athlete’s journey concludes with celebration and a sense of accomplishment.

Volunteer aviation community support

The Carsons join more than 100 volunteer Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker owners and operators who have donated aircraft, crew, fuel and time to transport athletes to and from the Special Olympics USA Games.

Since 1987, the Airlift has transported more than 10,000 athletes and coaches, reflecting sustained support from the general aviation community.

Textron Aviation acknowledged the aircraft owners and operators who have stepped forward as Doves for the 2026 Airlift, noting that their participation is intended to provide athletes with a VIP travel experience.

The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games are scheduled for 19–27 June across Minnesota’s Twin Cities, with competitions at the University of Minnesota and the National Sports Center in Blaine. The Games will feature more than 3,000 athletes from all 50 states competing in 16 Olympic-type sports.
