Diamond Aircraft outlines DA62 MPP upgrades and future roadmap for special mission operations.
Enhancements focus on mission capability, connectivity and operational flexibility
Wiener Neustadt, 19 March 2026 – Diamond Aircraft’s Special Mission Aircraft Division has detailed a series of technical developments completed in 2025 for the DA62 MPP, alongside a roadmap outlining planned enhancements for 2026.
The 2025 upgrades include the validation of Starlink Mini connectivity through flight trials, certification of an increased maximum take-off mass, and the introduction of Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) capability for specific configurations.
Additional developments include the integration and certification of a diversity transponder, improving tracking reliability and communication performance, particularly in remote and low-altitude operations.
Looking ahead, the 2026 roadmap focuses on further expanding mission capability through enhancements to aerodynamic efficiency, situational awareness, and payload integration.
Planned developments include an improved radome for beyond-line-of-sight systems, a tail-mounted camera integrated with avionics systems, and a new universal mounting frame to support modular payload configurations.
The introduction of a new radar pod and certification pathways for specialised mission equipment are also included in the roadmap.
The DA62 MPP continues to be positioned as a multi-role platform supporting applications such as ISR, maritime surveillance, environmental monitoring, and search and rescue operations.
