Pilatus has announced the acquisition of German-based Air Alliance GmbH, strengthening its presence in the European market and expanding its capabilities across aircraft sales, maintenance and operational services.
The transaction, which remains subject to regulatory approvals, builds on an established partnership between the two companies and reflects Pilatus’ strategy to enhance its direct engagement with customers in key European markets.
EXPANDING PRESENCE IN KEY EUROPEAN MARKETS
Air Alliance, founded in 1993, operates as an authorised Pilatus Sales and Service Centre, supporting PC-12 and PC-24 aircraft in Germany and Austria.
Through the acquisition, Pilatus gains access to an integrated service organisation with capabilities spanning:
- Aircraft sales
- Maintenance and technical support
- Flight training
- Aircraft management and commercial operations under an Air Operator Certificate (AOC)
This positions Air Alliance across the full operational value chain, from acquisition through to in-service support and operations.
CONTINUITY OF OPERATIONS AND LEADERSHIP
The existing workforce of approximately 120 employees will be retained as part of the acquisition.
René Petersen, current Managing Director of Air Alliance, will continue to lead the company as Chief Executive Officer under the new ownership structure, ensuring operational continuity.
Unicair GmbH, the group’s air ambulance subsidiary, is not included in the acquisition and will remain an independent entity.
STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT AND SERVICE INTEGRATION
The acquisition is intended to strengthen integration between manufacturing, sales and operational services within the Pilatus ecosystem.
By bringing Air Alliance under direct ownership, Pilatus aims to improve service consistency and responsiveness, while leveraging synergies across its European operations.
Germany and Austria are identified as key growth markets, with the acquisition enabling closer proximity to customers and enhanced support for aircraft owners and operators.
INDUSTRY CONTEXT
The move reflects a broader trend among OEMs to expand beyond manufacturing into lifecycle services and operational support.
By integrating sales, maintenance and operational capabilities, manufacturers are increasingly positioning themselves to provide end-to-end solutions, improving customer retention and long-term revenue streams.
For business aviation platforms such as the PC-12 and PC-24, this approach supports both fleet performance and operator service expectations across multiple markets.
