Passenger and cargo services to Baghdad, Basra and Erbil reinstated
NETWORK RESTORATION
Qatar Airways will resume passenger services to Iraq from 10 May 2026, reinstating routes to Baghdad, Basra, and Erbil as part of its ongoing network restoration programme.
In addition, the airline will reintroduce cargo operations to Baghdad from 7 May 2026, supporting freight connectivity into the Iraqi market.
REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY
The resumption forms part of a broader expansion across the Middle East, following the reinstatement of services to destinations including Dubai, Sharjah, Bahrain, Damascus, and Kozhikode.
Qatar Airways indicated that the phased approach is aligned with operational and regulatory considerations as regional connectivity continues to recover.
NETWORK EXPANSION
The airline plans to expand its schedule further from 16 June 2026, targeting a network of more than 150 destinations across six continents.
This reflects a continued return to pre-disruption network scale, alongside efforts to rebuild both passenger and cargo capacity.
OPERATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
Qatar Airways noted that schedules remain subject to operational, regulatory, and safety conditions, advising passengers to monitor updates through official channels.
