Safran Nacelles has reached a significant production milestone with the delivery of its 5,000th nacelle for the Airbus A320neo programme, underlining the sustained industrial momentum behind one of commercial aviation’s largest and most active fleet programmes.
MILESTONE MARKED AT COLOMIERS ASSEMBLY SITE
Safran Nacelles has delivered its 5,000th nacelle for the Airbus A320neo programme, marking a significant production milestone for one of the world’s most active commercial aviation programmes. The milestone was celebrated at the company’s Colomiers facility, situated adjacent to the A320 final assembly line in Toulouse, and was attended by representatives from Airbus, Middle River Aerostructure Systems and the Occitanie region.
Vincent Caro, Chief Executive of Safran Nacelles, said what the company was experiencing with the A320neo programme was unprecedented. He described the 5,000th nacelle as an important milestone and a demonstration of the exceptional momentum of the programme, and said that, as demand continued to grow, Safran Nacelles was preparing to produce up to 1,000 nacelles per year to support Airbus and airlines around the world.
PRODUCTION RAMP-UP AND ON-TIME DELIVERY RECORD
The delivery forms part of a sustained ramp-up in A320neo production volumes to which Safran Nacelles contributes through what the company describes as a high level of industrial performance and operational reliability. The programme has maintained a delivery on time (OTD) rate of 100%, which Safran Nacelles cites as evidence of the robustness of the industrial organisation established to support the ramp-up and meet customer expectations.
Since the launch of the A320neo programme, Safran Nacelles has worked in close collaboration with Airbus and its industrial partners to ensure that production volumes have been met while performance standards have been maintained. The company says the milestone illustrates its ability to sustain the industrial requirements of commercial aerospace in a context of continued growth in global air traffic.
