ACR Electronics has announced that its ARTEX ELT 5000 emergency locator transmitter has surpassed an estimated one million flight hours since the first Boeing 737-equipped aircraft entered revenue service in May 2025 — reached within roughly fourteen months across a growing deployment that now spans the 737, 787 and 777 families worldwide.
MILESTONE REACHED IN UNDER FOURTEEN MONTHS ON THE FIRST PLATFORM ALONE
ACR Electronics, the Fort Lauderdale-based aviation safety and survival technology company, has announced that its ARTEX ELT 5000 platform has accumulated an estimated one million flight hours across the global commercial fleet. The figure, calculated from Boeing delivery data, known fleet deployments, retrofit activity and commercial aircraft utilisation rates, was reached within approximately fourteen months of the first Boeing 737-equipped aircraft entering revenue service in May 2025 — a rate of accumulation reflecting both the scale of Boeing’s 737 customer base and the speed of ELT 5000 adoption across new production deliveries and retrofit programmes simultaneously.

SCALE AND DAILY OPERATIONAL FOOTPRINT
The installed base now accumulates approximately 7,500 flight hours every day, supported by an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 departures daily across every inhabited continent — the equivalent of an ELT 5000-equipped aircraft taking off somewhere in the world every 30 to 40 seconds. The Boeing 737 remains the largest single platform for the ELT 5000, but deployment has since expanded to the 787 Dreamliner and 777 families, with both new production deliveries and ongoing retrofit programmes continuing to grow the installed base.
WHAT ELT 5000 DELIVERS
The ARTEX ELT 5000 is a next-generation distress tracking system developed in compliance with the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) framework — the ICAO-led initiative requiring that aircraft in distress can be rapidly located anywhere in the world. The milestone accumulation of flight hours represents the technology’s transition from certification and initial deployment to proven, widespread operational service. Continued production deliveries and expansion of retrofit programmes are expected to further increase the installed base over the coming years.
