AEROLEASE EXPANDS ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT RENTAL WITH NEXT-GEN THERMAL MODELS

Green Aerolease, Europe’s premier electric aircraft rental company, is expanding its services to include low-consumption thermal-powered flight training aircraft, boasting a remarkable 50% reduction in fuel consumption compared to conventional models. To mitigate residual CO2 emissions, the company offsets them through the utilization of electric aircraft, facilitated by the Aero4Good association. This innovative approach enables flight clubs and professional flight schools to offer comprehensive flight training courses with net-zero emissions from start to finish.

The all-inclusive aircraft rental service provided by Green Aerolease caters to aeronautical operators, facilitating access to advanced propulsion technologies, particularly electric ones, known for their environmental friendliness. Over the past three years, Green Aerolease has spearheaded the deployment of Europe’s first certified electric aircraft, Pipistrel’s Velis Electro, with approximately thirty electric aircraft already operational across Europe through its rental service, primarily in France but also in the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, and Germany.

In a bid to further accelerate aviation decarbonisation, Green Aerolease introduces two new rental aircraft: the Velis Club and the Explorer, both manufactured by Pipistrel. These highly fuel-efficient aircraft, consuming only around 15 liters per flight hour, represent a significant reduction in fuel consumption compared to traditional club aircraft. This achievement is made possible by advanced engines and optimised aerodynamics.

This comprehensive solution offered by Green Aerolease aims to modernise the entire fleet of flying clubs and flight schools. The Velis Electro is ideally suited for the initial phases of training and familiarisation flights, while the Velis Club or Explorer cater to advanced training needs, including longer navigation flights. Moreover, the Explorer’s avionics enable instrument flight training in visual meteorological conditions for pilots aspiring to undergo IFR training. These fuel-efficient thermal aircraft complement the electric fleet, providing a diverse training solution for flying clubs and professional schools.

The inclusion of these thermal aircraft in Green Aerolease’s rental portfolio aims to expedite the adoption of electric aircraft. The company addresses a common obstacle encountered during the transition to electric aircraft—student pilots’ adaptation to thermal aircraft already present in flying clubs, which often differ significantly in handling characteristics. This challenge is now mitigated as all three aircraft offered for rental feature identical airframes.

Charles Cabillic, founder of Green Aerolease, emphasised the company’s commitment to accelerating aviation’s environmental transition. By integrating the Velis Club and Explorer alongside the Velis Electro, Green Aerolease offers a holistic approach to maximise the use of electric aircraft while laying the groundwork for the decarbonisation of light aviation. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to minimizing CO2 emissions and noise pollution associated with pilot training, pending the availability of electric aircraft suitable for broader travel applications.
