ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS AND AIRBUS HAVE SIGNED A FLIGHT TRAINING AGREEMENT THAT WILL PLACE ANA GROUP AND PARTNER AIRLINE CADETS INTO AN AB-INITIO PROGRAMME AT SEVENAIR ACADEMY IN PORTUGAL.
FIRST COHORT TO START IN 2026
Airbus and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have signed a comprehensive flight training agreement covering ab-initio pilot training for cadets from the ANA Group and partner airlines.
The programme will be delivered at Sevenair Academy in Ponte de Sor, Portugal. It will take candidates with no previous flight experience through the training phases required to become licensed pilots. The first cohort of 19 cadets is scheduled to begin training later in 2026.
UNIFIED AIRBUS TRAINING FRAMEWORK
Cadets will train within a single curriculum based on Airbus flight training concepts, methodologies and learning tools from the beginning of the programme.
Takeshi Tsuchida, Executive Vice President of Flight Operations at ANA, said the programme incorporates current safety insights and aligns with Airbus Competency-Based Training and Assessment principles.
PILOT DEMAND IN ASIA-PACIFIC
Thomas Aoudia, Head of Operations and Business Development at Airbus Training Services, said the ab-initio pathway is intended to develop core competencies from the early stages of training through to airline operations.
According to the Airbus Global Services Forecast cited in the supplied material, the aviation industry will require 633,000 new pilots worldwide over the next 20 years, including 104,000 in the Asia-Pacific region.
