AGREEMENT SUBJECT TO APPROVALS

Bombardier and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have entered into an agreement under which Bombardier will acquire the assets of MHI Canada Aerospace (MHICA) in Mississauga, Ontario.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions and is expected to close later in 2026. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

AEROSTRUCTURES CAPABILITY MOVES IN-HOUSE

The acquisition will add MHICA’s aerostructure manufacturing capabilities and approximately 750 employees to Bombardier’s operations. Bombardier said the transaction will strengthen its in-house aerostructures capability, manufacturing resilience and autonomy.

David Murray, Bombardier Executive Vice President for Manufacturing, Supply Chain Execution and the Bombardier Operational Excellence System, said the acquisition would strengthen critical capabilities and support the company’s ability to respond to customer demand.

TRANSITION AND CONTINUITY

MHI will work with Bombardier on the transition and will provide interim support after closing. The companies said the objective is to maintain continuity for aircraft programmes, employees and the Mississauga operation.

Hiroyuki Koguchi, Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial Aviation Systems at MHI, said MHICA employees had made important contributions to the aircraft programmes supported by the operation.

Sandra Hodgkinson, Bombardier Senior Vice President for Strategy and M&A, said the transaction aligns with Bombardier’s approach to investing in strategic manufacturing capabilities and reinforcing its supply chain.

MHI said it will remain active in commercial aerospace and defence and will continue to maintain a presence in Canada through its other business activities.
