Connecting Skies • Bridging Continents

AVIATION FINANCE, FLEET STRATEGY AND ROUTE DEVELOPMENT FEATURE ON AVIADEV AFRICA 2026 AGENDA

AviaDev Africa 2026 will take place from 10–12 June at the Gaborone International Conference Centre in Botswana, with the programme placing strong emphasis on aviation finance, fleet planning and future route development across the continent.

The event will open with a new Aviation Finance & Leasing Forum, followed by broader discussions on macroeconomic trends, network strategy, connectivity and commercial sustainability.

INAUGURAL AVIATION FINANCE & LEASING FORUM

Capital access and fleet planning

A key addition to the 2026 programme is the Aviation Finance & Leasing Forum, scheduled for the opening day and included within the AviaDev pass.

The forum will address access to capital, aircraft availability and sustainable fleet planning, identified as constraints to growth in African aviation markets. Discussions are expected to focus on leasing models, risk mitigation, funding partnerships and the alignment of fleet strategy with network ambitions.

The objective is to facilitate practical dialogue between airlines, lessors, investors and airports, with an emphasis on commercially grounded outcomes.

MACRO OUTLOOK AND ROUTE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

Economic drivers and network decisions

On the second day, the agenda broadens to examine macroeconomic and aviation trends shaping demand, capacity and profitability across African markets.

Sessions will explore how airlines are making network decisions in 2026, the data influencing those decisions, and how airports and destinations can strengthen business cases for new services.

Further discussions will examine unserved and underserved route opportunities, the role of partnerships in reducing risk for new services, and collaboration between tourism authorities and airports to support sustainable demand.

CONNECTIVITY, COSTS AND COMMERCIAL VIABILITY

Operational and forward-looking focus

The final day will concentrate on operational considerations and long-term industry resilience.

Topics will include strengthening intra-African connectivity and addressing practical barriers such as regulatory frameworks and cost structures. Revenue optimisation, cost control and the development of commercially viable routes in competitive markets are also expected to feature.

The programme will also consider long-term sustainability and the need for agility in a shifting global environment.

STRUCTURED MEETINGS AND NETWORKING

One-to-one engagement

As in previous editions, structured one-to-one meetings form a central component of AviaDev Africa. The format is designed to connect airline network planners, airport route development teams, tourism boards and finance partners in focused discussions aligned to strategic objectives.

The programme will also include social functions and informal networking sessions intended to facilitate relationship-building.

Registration for AviaDev Africa 2026 is open, with attendance limited to maintain a focused networking environment.
