THE CERTIFICATION THAT UNLOCKS THE CUSTOMER BASE

Avion Express Brasil, a subsidiary of Avion Express and part of Avia Solutions Group, has achieved IATA Operational Safety Audit certification. The airline states the milestone confirms that its operational management and control systems meet internationally recognised aviation safety standards, and marks a step in its expansion across the Brazilian and Latin American markets. Certification followed months of preparation and an extensive audit assessing compliance with international safety standards and recommended practices across operational control, training, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

For an ACMI operator the accreditation is a commercial prerequisite rather than a badge. Many airlines require that any carrier operating aircraft on their behalf holds IOSA registration, because the contracting airline’s own safety oversight obligations extend to capacity flown under its brand. A wet-lease provider without IOSA is therefore excluded from a substantial portion of the addressable market irrespective of the quality of its operation. Fernando Amaral, Chief Technical Officer and Interim Chief Executive of Avion Express Brasil, said ACMI airlines must meet the highest operational requirements because the model depends on integrating seamlessly into partner airlines’ operations, and that the certification confirmed the company’s systems, procedures and safety culture met rigorous international standards.

COMPLETING A SEQUENCE WORLD AIRNEWS DAILY HAS FOLLOWED

The certification closes a regulatory sequence reported by World Airnews Daily on 20 July, when Avion Express announced its Brazilian leadership transition. That announcement recorded three milestones delivered during the airline’s establishment phase: the award of a Brazilian Air Operator Certificate, the launch of commercial flight operations, and the successful completion of the IOSA audit with formal accreditation then pending. The accreditation has now been granted.

Vytenis Suklys, Chief Executive of Avion Express, said the two companies had worked closely together since the Brazilian AOC was established, with the goal of sharing knowledge, expertise and best practice developed over more than 20 years in the ACMI industry and adapting them to the Brazilian market. He described the certification as an important confirmation of that approach. The airline states the achievement strengthens its position as an ACMI partner for carriers seeking additional capacity, fleet flexibility and operational resilience during seasonal demand peaks, network expansion and unforeseen disruptions — the three circumstances in which wet-lease capacity is typically procured.
