EMBRAER MARKS 25 YEARS OF AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING MASTER’S PROGRAMME

Embraer celebrates 25 years of its Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, a milestone programme that has trained 1,800 specialists for the global aerospace industry.

Academic Partnership and Professional Impact

Embraer is marking the 25th anniversary of its Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, a professional degree offered in collaboration with the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA) in Brazil. Since its inception, the accelerated learning initiative has seen 1,800 graduates from various engineering disciplines enter the aeronautical sector. Currently, 90 participants are enrolled in the programme, which serves as a key talent development pathway supporting the manufacturer’s growth and sustainability strategies.

According to Luís Carlos Affonso, Embraer’s Vice President of Engineering and Technology Development, the programme has contributed to the development of several aircraft programmes, including the E-Jets, the KC-390 military transport, and the Phenom and Praetor business jet families.

Training Methodology and Selection Process

The programme employs a “learn-by-doing” methodology, utilising prototyping and collaborative projects to address real-world technical and economic challenges. Each class undergoes more than 3,000 hours of intensive theoretical and applied training. The faculty comprises ITA professors, experienced Embraer engineers, and specialised consultants.

The selection process remains highly competitive, attracting approximately 5,000 applications annually from engineers across Brazil. Notable progress in diversity was recorded in the most recent intake, where 29% of participants were women. Successful candidates receive a starting monthly scholarship of BRL 5,000, which increases by 20% after the first year, alongside medical and additional benefits.

Corporate Standing and Global Operations

Headquartered in Brazil, Embraer has delivered over 9,000 aircraft since its founding in 1969. The company is the global leader in the manufacture of commercial jets with up to 150 seats and remains Brazil’s leading exporter of high-value-added goods. Its operational footprint includes industrial units, service centres, and parts distribution hubs across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
