FL Technics Indonesia says Southeast Asia’s MRO sector continues to face supply chain instability, rising logistics costs and growing operational pressure despite ongoing regional expansion.
FL Technics Indonesia has highlighted ongoing supply chain instability, rising logistics costs and increasing operational pressures facing the Asia-Pacific maintenance sector during discussions at MRO Southeast Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.
Dobrica Djordjevic, Chief Production Officer at FL Technics Indonesia, participated in a panel session titled New Hubs, New Models, New Collaborations Driving MRO Capacity, where industry participants examined the evolving operational environment for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers across the region.
SUPPLY CHAIN AND LOGISTICS PRESSURES CONTINUE
According to Djordjevic, airlines across Southeast Asia are increasingly seeking maintenance support closer to their operational bases, while MRO providers continue to face challenges maintaining predictable turnaround times amid unstable supply chain conditions.
He noted that broader geopolitical developments, including the recent Middle East crisis, have added further strain to already fragile logistics networks, contributing to increased transportation costs and longer delivery timelines for aviation materials and components.
The panel also discussed the growing role of regional and cross-border partnerships as MRO organisations seek greater operational resilience and flexibility within increasingly complex market conditions.
JAKARTA EXPANSION UNDERWAY
Against this backdrop, FL Technics Indonesia confirmed continued expansion of its local maintenance capabilities. The company recently signed an initial expansion agreement with the Indonesian airport authority linked to further development of its MRO facility at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
The company currently operates facilities both in Jakarta and at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, supported by more than 700 aviation specialists.
SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES INCLUDED IN DEVELOPMENT PLANS
FL Technics Indonesia also outlined ongoing sustainability measures within its operations. The company said its Bali facility already uses fully electric ground support and operational vehicles, while the planned Jakarta expansion is expected to incorporate sustainability-focused infrastructure, including approximately 100 kW of planned solar panel capacity.
Djordjevic said long-term growth within the Southeast Asian MRO sector would increasingly depend on collaboration, operational adaptability and continued investment in both workforce development and technology.
FL Technics Indonesia is an FAA Part-145 certified subsidiary of FL Technics and forms part of Avia Solutions Group.
