FLYSAFAIR FLIGHTS CONTINUE AMID PILOT STRIKE, REDUCED SCHEDULE IN EFFECT

Johannesburg – 22 July 2025 — FlySafair has confirmed that all flights on today’s schedule are currently operating as planned, despite ongoing industrial action involving a portion of its pilot workforce. The airline is implementing a reduced schedule, which was proactively planned and communicated to affected customers last week.

Only two flights have been cancelled for today: the 16:45 service from Cape Town to Lanseria and the 19:30 return leg. Passengers booked on these flights were notified yesterday and assisted according to their preferences.

“All other scheduled flights are crewed and operating normally as of this morning,” said the airline, reiterating its commitment to minimising disruption while continuing to operate safely and reliably under the current circumstances.

FlySafair emphasised that it has maintained open and lawful engagement with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). “Claims that the airline has refused to participate in the CCMA process are factually incorrect,” the company stated. “FlySafair has actively engaged with the CCMA throughout the process, as required by law to obtain a protected strike certificate, and continues to participate in CCMA-facilitated discussions in good faith.”

Passengers are advised to monitor their bookings via the “Manage My Booking” function on flysafair.co.za and consult the Travel Updates page for real-time information. Airport teams remain on standby to assist with rebookings, refunds, and alternative arrangements.

“We know that travel disruptions can be incredibly stressful, especially when plans are made well in advance,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair. “We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and want to reassure our customers that we are doing everything in our power to restore full operations as quickly as possible. Our teams are working around the clock to support affected customers, and we remain fully committed to finding a fair and sustainable resolution.”
