JETZERO CHOOSES NORTH CAROLINA FOR FIRST MANUFACTURING HUB, BRINGING 14,500 JOBS AND A NEW ERA IN AVIATION

GREENSBORO, N.C., June 2025 — In a milestone announcement that signals the dawn of a new chapter in American aerospace innovation, JetZero, the aerospace start-up developing the revolutionary all-wing Z4 aircraft, has selected Greensboro, North Carolina as the site of its first advanced manufacturing and final assembly facility.

Located on the grounds of Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI), the purpose-built, state-of-the-art factory will be a cornerstone of JetZero’s bold mission to redefine commercial aviation. The Z4 is designed to deliver substantial gains in fuel efficiency, enhanced flight crew and passenger experience, and cutting-edge aeronautical performance. At full operational capacity, the Greensboro plant will be capable of producing up to 20 Z4 aircraft per month, with full-rate production anticipated by the late 2030s.

The facility will generate more than 14,500 new jobs, marking a significant economic boon for the region and reinforcing North Carolina’s position as a centre of aerospace excellence.

“I am thrilled to welcome JetZero and its 14,000 good-paying jobs and unprecedented innovation to Guilford County,” said Governor Josh Stein. “From first in flight to now the future of flight, North Carolina and our skilled workforce is soaring.”

Tom O’Leary, CEO and co-founder of JetZero, emphasised the strategic value of the move: “North Carolina offers the ideal combination of talent, infrastructure, and forward-thinking leadership to support our mission to reshape aviation. This facility is a critical milestone in bringing our all-wing Z4 to market.”

JetZero’s decision underscores the strength of North Carolina’s aerospace ecosystem, which includes world-class research institutions, a robust technical college network, and a track record of supporting innovation-focused industry. Construction on the new facility is expected to commence in the first half of 2026, with initial customer deliveries projected for the early 2030s.

“This era-defining project reflects everything we’ve worked toward at PTI,” noted Kevin Baker, Executive Director of the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority. “JetZero’s arrival validates our long-term vision of building an airport that serves not just transportation needs, but stands as a hub for aerospace excellence.”

A cornerstone of JetZero’s plan is workforce development. The company is working closely with state and local officials to establish training programs that ensure the region’s labour pool is ready for the jobs of tomorrow. Career opportunities will be posted on JetZero’s Career page and on NCworks.gov, the state’s employment platform.

JetZero is also charting a new course in how factories of the future are designed and operated. Collaborating with Siemens—particularly its Smart Infrastructure, Electrification, and Automation divisions—JetZero is building a greenfield facility that incorporates the latest digital and AI-powered manufacturing technologies.

“JetZero’s upcoming facility, powered by Siemens technologies, demonstrates that revitalising American manufacturing is more than just a vision—it’s becoming reality,” said Barbara Humpton, President and CEO, Siemens USA. “Together, we’re poised to accelerate innovation, create high-quality jobs, and position North Carolina as the next great U.S. aerospace hub.”

Siemens’ technology will also support JetZero’s full-scale Demonstrator aircraft, scheduled for its first flight in 2027, enabling faster development while ensuring rigorous safety and quality standards.

JetZero’s bold step in Greensboro sets the stage not only for a new era in aircraft design but for renewed momentum in America’s manufacturing resurgence—anchored by innovation, sustainability, and skilled jobs for generations to come.
