UNI AIR PLACES LANDMARK ORDER FOR 19 ATR 72-600s

Toulouse, 10 June 2025 – In a significant boost to regional aviation, ATR has announced a firm order from Taiwan’s UNI Air for 19 ATR 72-600 aircraft, along with options for three more. This landmark deal marks ATR’s largest airline order since 2017 and signals continued confidence in the French manufacturer’s market-leading turboprops.

A subsidiary of EVA Air, UNI Air has long relied on ATR aircraft to service Taiwan’s domestic network. This is the airline’s second direct order, following its 2011 acquisition of 10 ATR 72-600s. The newly signed agreement underlines the carrier’s commitment to fleet renewal and expansion, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2032.

The order will replace and grow UNI Air’s current fleet of 14 ATR 72-600s, reinforcing its position as Taiwan’s key domestic carrier. The new-generation aircraft will be powered by PW127XT engines and feature an updated cabin design and New Air Management System. These upgrades will deliver improved fuel efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, greater reliability, and enhanced passenger comfort.

Operating primarily from Taipei Songshan Airport, UNI Air connects 11 domestic destinations, including vital routes to the island communities of Kinmen, Penghu, and Matsu. The airline plays an essential role in Taiwan’s integrated transport system, offering low-emission, reliable connectivity for residents, tourists, and businesses. Its operations also support regional mobility by feeding into EVA Air’s broader domestic and international networks.

Mr. Solomon Lin, Chairman of UNI Air, described the order as a “major step” in the airline’s strategy to strengthen domestic air services and support Taiwan’s growth. “We are reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a young and modern fleet,” he said. “ATR aircraft, renowned for their unbeatable economics, fuel efficiency, versatility and airport accessibility, have consistently proven to be the optimal platform for regional connectivity.”

ATR CEO Nathalie Tarnaud-Laude welcomed the renewed partnership, stating, “UNI Air makes a meaningful difference for the communities it serves. This new order is a powerful affirmation of our mission: building aircraft that bring communities closer together.”

This strategic order not only positions UNI Air for sustained growth but also highlights a resurgence in regional aviation demand, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. With ATR aircraft ideally suited to diverse geographies and growing mobility needs, the manufacturer continues to lead the charge in delivering efficient, modern, and sustainable aviation solutions.
