KENYA AIRWAYS EXPANDS HORIZON WITH MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE ROUTE

In a move to meet the increasing demand for travel between East and Southern Africa, Kenya Airways (KQ) proudly announces the launch of a new route linking Nairobi directly to the vibrant city of Maputo, Mozambique. Set to take flight on 14th June 2024, this exciting expansion underscores KQ’s commitment to enhancing its network and providing seamless travel experiences across the continent.

Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, expresses the airline’s dedication to meeting the surging demand for air travel, stating, “The demand for air travel is soaring, and we’re determined to meet it by expanding our reach and fostering connections between Africa’s rich cultures and thriving economies.” He emphasises the significance of the Nairobi-Maputo route in strengthening ties between Kenya and Mozambique, facilitating increased trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Maputo, known as a major trade hub for southern Africa, captivates visitors with its blend of history, culture, and contemporary vibrancy. Portuguese colonial influences echo through the city’s architecture, while bustling markets and a burgeoning art scene offer a glimpse into Mozambique’s diverse cultural tapestry. Whether seeking relaxation on pristine beaches or immersion in captivating museums, Maputo promises an unforgettable experience for travellers.

Commencing operations on 14th June, Kenya Airways will operate three flights per week to Maputo, offering flexible travel options on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This expansion aligns with KQ’s broader network strategy for FY2024, which includes increased frequencies to popular destinations such as New York, Paris, Lagos, Accra, and Freetown.

The introduction of the Nairobi-Maputo route marks a significant milestone for Kenya Airways, catering not only to travellers originating in Kenya but also serving as a convenient connecting point for passengers from other African cities via Nairobi.

With its steadfast commitment to “propelling Africa’s growth,” Kenya Airways’ expansion into Maputo strengthens connections across the continent, fostering economic opportunities and enriching travel experiences for all.

In the ever-evolving landscape of African aviation, Kenya Airways continues to soar to new heights, connecting people, cultures, and economies, one flight at a time.
