TRANSBHARAT AVIATION ORDERS INDIA’S FIRST BELL 407GXi

Bell Textron has announced the sale of India’s first Bell 407GXi helicopter to TransBharat Aviation, supporting regional connectivity and expanding the operator’s rotary-wing capabilities.

Bell Textron has announced the sale of the first Bell 407GXi helicopter in India to TransBharat Aviation Private Limited, marking a milestone for the aircraft type in the country’s rotary-wing aviation market.

The acquisition will expand the fleet of one of India’s longest-established non-scheduled helicopter operators and further strengthen its operational capabilities across a range of mission profiles.

Long-standing Bell operator expands fleet

Founded in 1990, TransBharat Aviation has operated Bell helicopters for several decades, including the Bell 206B3 and Bell 407. The addition of the Bell 407GXi continues the company’s long-standing relationship with the manufacturer and forms part of its ongoing fleet development strategy.

According to Bell, the new helicopter will be used for high-altitude hill operations, utility survey missions and corporate transport services throughout India.

Designed for varied mission requirements

Bell said the 407GXi combines advanced avionics with the performance and reliability required for demanding operating environments. The aircraft has been developed to support a wide range of missions, making it suitable for the diverse operating conditions encountered across India.

The Bell 407 family has established a significant global footprint, with more than 1,500 aircraft currently in service worldwide. The fleet has collectively accumulated over six million flight hours across utility, corporate, air medical and public safety operations.

Supporting regional connectivity

TransBharat Aviation said the acquisition aligns with its commitment to operational excellence and service delivery. The company expects the Bell 407GXi to enhance its ability to support communities across India while strengthening operational flexibility.

The operator also indicated that the aircraft will support participation in India’s UDAN regional connectivity programme, which aims to improve air access to underserved regions of the country.

Ongoing investment in helicopter operations

As one of India’s most established non-scheduled helicopter operators, TransBharat Aviation said it remains focused on maintaining high standards of safety, engineering and operational integrity. The Bell 407GXi acquisition represents the latest investment in the company’s continued expansion and modernisation efforts.
