WINTER STORMS LIMIT FUEL PRICE MOVEMENT WHILE SAF PRICES CONTINUE TO FLUCTUATE

Winter storms limited aviation fuel price movement across the United States in January, while Sustainable Aviation Fuel prices continued to fluctuate, according to GlobalAir fuel data.

Winter weather conditions across large parts of the United States contributed to limited movement in aviation fuel prices during January, while Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) continued to show variable pricing trends.

According to fuel data reported by GlobalAir.com, national average prices for both 100LL and Jet A fuel remained relatively stable during the period. The national average price for 100LL declined for a fourth consecutive month, moving from $6.44 in December to $6.41 in January.

Jet A prices also showed minimal downward movement, declining by one cent month-on-month to reach a national average of $6.25 in January. The limited price movement is attributed in part to widespread winter weather conditions, which affected flight operations across multiple regions.

SAF pricing continued to show more noticeable variation. The national average SAF price increased from $8.72 in December to $8.82 in January. According to the data, SAF prices demonstrated a pattern of alternating increases and decreases throughout 2025.

Despite challenging weather conditions, airports and fixed base operators (FBOs) maintained operational continuity, keeping runways open and supporting ongoing flight activity.

GlobalAir.com also reported on usage trends within its Airport Resource Center. The three most visited airport pages over the past 30 days were Music City Executive Airport in Gallatin, Tennessee; John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York; and Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

In the FBO category, the most viewed facilities were V1 Aviation at KCKB, Signature Aviation South at KPBI, and Simon Aviation Services at KHUM.

GlobalAir.com states that its fuel data is based on pricing submitted directly by more than 3,200 FBOs. The company excludes facilities that do not update or verify pricing data at least every 30 days in order to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
