AUTOFLIGHT COMPLETES FIRST EVTOL DEMONSTRATION FLIGHT IN CENTRAL ASIA

AutoFlight has completed the first ton-class eVTOL demonstration flight in Central Asia, supporting Kazakhstan’s emerging urban air mobility sector.

KAZAKHSTAN ADVANCES URBAN AIR MOBILITY DEVELOPMENT WITH ALATAU CITY PROJECT

AutoFlight has completed what it describes as the first ton-class eVTOL demonstration flight in Central Asia, conducted in Alatau City, Kazakhstan. The demonstration marked the region’s first urban air mobility (UAM) flight using an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft.

The demonstration was carried out in partnership with Alatau Advance Air Group Ltd. (AAAG), which has already purchased AutoFlight large-scale eVTOL aircraft. During the event, the two companies also signed a memorandum of understanding covering an additional 50 units from the V2000/V5000 series.

VERTIPORT DEVELOPMENT UNDERWAY

According to the companies, construction of the first vertiport in Alatau City is already underway at the demonstration site. The facility is expected to form part of the planned UAM Center Eurasia, described as Kazakhstan’s first urban air mobility hub.

Alisher Abdykadyrov, CEO of the Alatau City Authority, said the project represents part of a broader effort to position advanced mobility technologies within future urban development and digital infrastructure initiatives.

REGULATORY AND INVESTMENT FRAMEWORK

The announcement also highlighted cooperation between AAAG and Alatau City Bank aimed at supporting investment attraction and financial mechanisms linked to the development of low-altitude transport infrastructure.

The project follows the signing of Kazakhstan’s Constitutional Law “On the Special Legal Regime of the City of Alatau” on 8 May 2026, which stakeholders say provides a framework for the development of high-technology sectors including low-altitude aviation operations.

AutoFlight stated that it will continue working with Kazakh authorities and AAAG on certification processes, operational standards and pilot training frameworks to support future regional eVTOL operations.
