Pretoria-based Etion Create showcases cybersecurity, navigation and tactical computing solutions at World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia
Pretoria-based electronics company Etion Create is presenting a new range of cybersecurity, navigation and tactical computing solutions at the third edition of the World Defense Show (WDS2026) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking an overseas debut for several of its latest systems.
Â
The company, which is increasingly focused on mission computer system offerings, is showcasing its new Cheetah tactical router at the event. The router is ITAR-free and compliant with NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) standards, positioning it for tactical applications across a range of operational environments.
Â
Built on the new VNX+ platform, the Cheetah router has a defined growth path into mission computer applications. According to Tobie van Loggerenberg, Executive: Business Development Manager, the system can be upgraded to a mission computer using either the CM120 Intel Atom or the NVIDIA Jetson Nano VNX+ processing modules.
Â
The system provides centralised, encrypted connectivity to support situational awareness, sensor and effector interfacing, internal and external communications, and tactical datalink functions.
Â
Also on display is a compact and more cost-effective version of the company’s established CheetahNAV tactical vehicle navigation system. The system is evolving into a broader family of tactical mission systems.
Â
With the Middle East identified as a strategic focus region, the CheetahNAV is now being manufactured in Saudi Arabia and is already in service within the Kingdom and with regional customers.
Â
The new CheetahNAV Compact has been designed for space efficiency and integration into a wide range of vehicle platforms. Despite its reduced size, it maintains display clarity and readability through advanced display technologies.
Â
In addition to route planning, the system incorporates real-time moving map functionality to provide continuous situational awareness to drivers and crew. The system delivers dead-reckoning horizontal position accuracy of 0.2% of distance travelled in GNSS-denied environments, equating to approximately 200 metres over 100 kilometres travelled.
Â
An integrated inertial measurement unit ensures operation remains effective during jamming or emergency conditions where conventional communications networks may be unavailable. Multi-language capability supports multinational joint operations.
Â
On the cybersecurity side, Etion Create is introducing the RQ11 system. The RQ11 provides an encryption layer that can be applied to existing radio networks and is designed for use in command centres, base or shore stations and naval vessels.
The system enables secure and interoperable voice and data services across radios from multiple manufacturers. All over-the-air communications are encrypted, while access to the unit is controlled through an access code. A dedicated Crypto/Plain switch with corresponding LEDs provides clear operational status indication, and a front-panel Zeroize function allows complete erasure of stored data and keys.
Â
The RQ11 is based on Etion Create’s TQ5 secure modem module and the Nanoteq QCM-R radio cryptographic module, providing auditability within the secure cryptographic architecture.
Â
Etion Create recently completed the incorporation of Nanoteq Products and Engineers. The company now operates within the South African Reunert Group under the Reutech Applied Electronics division.
Â
Etion operates as an ecosystem of technology-focused business units delivering integrated digital technology solutions. Previously known as Parsec, Etion Create operates as an original design manufacturer with an international portfolio spanning defence and aerospace, information security, mining, rail and industrial sectors.
