RTX’S PRATT & WHITNEY LAUNCHES FULL OPERATIONS AT SINGAPORE TECH ACCELERATOR

Pratt & Whitney, a division of RTX (NYSE: RTX), has announced significant advancements in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) performance with the full operational launch of its Singapore Technology Accelerator (STA).

The establishment of the Singapore Technology Accelerator was initially unveiled in September 2022, as part of a collaboration between Pratt & Whitney and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). Since its inception, STA has made remarkable progress, introducing over 30 innovative solutions aimed at optimizing MRO processes. Collaborating with more than 20 local companies in Singapore, STA is driving the development of cutting-edge technologies tailored to the global commercial aviation sector.

Implemented across Pratt & Whitney’s four MRO facilities in Singapore, the technology projects at STA are centered on automation, advanced inspection techniques, connected factory systems, and digital twin technologies. These initiatives are designed to enhance the performance of MRO operations.

Gilbert Sim, Director of Aftermarket Global Operations Technology and CORE at Pratt & Whitney, emphasized the role of STA in accelerating the adoption of innovative technologies across MRO facilities. He stated, “STA serves as a hub for our employees’ innovative ideas, enabling us to scale technologies more efficiently across our MRO facilities. We remain committed to collaborating with MRO facilities and centers of excellence in Singapore and beyond, to implement additional technology insertion projects. This, coupled with our ongoing investments in MRO capacity, underscores our dedication to supporting customers worldwide.”

Pratt & Whitney is leveraging digitalisation and automation under Industry 4.0 principles to empower its MRO operations and provide customers with valuable insights into performance, quality, capacity, productivity, and cost. The innovations pioneered by STA, validated at local facilities in Singapore, will be progressively deployed across Pratt & Whitney’s global MRO network, ultimately improving throughput and turnaround times for customers.

Furthermore, Pratt & Whitney is actively developing advanced repair capabilities, including the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning, through various centers of excellence worldwide. These efforts reaffirm Pratt & Whitney’s position as a leader in the ever-evolving MRO and aviation landscape.
